James Kapicka is a somatic educator, Yin Yoga teacher-trainer, and Thai Massage practitioner with more than 15 years of experience helping people develop a more direct relationship with their bodies, breath, and inner experience. A former studio owner, James has also created and produced community projects including Sac-Sierra Yoga and Transcendence Festival, and taught yoga and mindfulness in a Level IV California state prison. He has led more than 500 students through Yin Yoga immersions and teacher trainings across the U.S.
His teaching brings anatomy, breath, sensation, curiosity, and relational inquiry together. Rather than asking people to perform a shape or override what they feel, James invites students to notice what is happening, listen more closely, and make choices that support greater self-trust, presence, and responsiveness.
Outside of teaching, James can often be found dancing, snowboarding, spending time outdoors, or with his dogs, Lilo and Stitch. The same questions that shape his work shape his life: how to stay present, listen closely, and live in closer relationship with what matters.
